Authors of the 20th Century

Immediately after the end of the Second World War the public started to deem that the world’s core principles are understandable and coherent . Both general politics and social relations were relying on the ideas of gain , positive change , belief in science , awareness , hi-tech innovations , and the knowledge of how to explain any phenomenon from a logical viewpoint . Notwithstanding , beginning from the second half of the 60’s, the world commenced to change and now , 40 years thereafter , we dwell in a changed kind of existence .
We without any problems spot those changes which are given us by new technology, but we seldom comprehend the fact that there are certain thoughts standing behind those technological solutions. The core of the expected adjustment was first spotted by those people, who as a rule lived anteceding their time – writers and authors. Among the multiple authors whose books have served for entertainment , there have been a few who have given people a new vision . They have better than others other authors created and worded new ideas and have in the end created formed a fresh intellectual and perceptual analysis of the future. They have noted challenges in the mundane of our lives and have unveiled a array of problems, which were going on without being noticed . They have helped us to realize the new challenges , and gave us new ambitions .
These were the authors who have shaped the vision of the entire generation, which has observed the period of cardial change; change, which was perceived as anarchy at the dawn of the 21 first century. They have turned our attention to the most vital dilemmas of the previous century; those problems , which the people , having lived through the world wars and unseen number of deaths, was unwilling to meet . Finally they were raising the most important dilemma “What will our future look like?”

In this work we will name some of the most prominent authors of the last century. They have all greatly impacted literature of their time, have depicted tendencies and dilemmas which were classic to their society and the times they existed in, and have made the audience meditate on the actual philosophy of moral, having them understand that it is far away from being perfect. One of the most important feature of their work is that in often they have awake the readers’ interest in books and written matter. In this aspect one of the most interesting success stories is that of a brilliant author John Cheever.

The success of Joan Rowling can be called phenomenal as she has found herself to be the first author in the world to earn $1 billion by authoring fairytales. She is today spending a great part of her profit on charity, battling poverty and diseases. The idea of the book was invented while she was on the train from Manchester to London. When the publisher has first agreed to print her book, she has given her 1500 pounds together with a friendly advice — to look for a stable job. He was hesitant of the fact that the young writer would be able to make a living off of writing. Joann has demonstrated the opposite - having produced a series of unparalleled fairytales, she has made the so-called non-reading generation get back to reading books.

This work is not able to name and more or less exactly list all writers who have offered their contribution to the world’s literature. They have been writing and bringing ideas exactly into the heads of the people, and thus were influencing the future. Thus, as we can see, these writers were not creating for enjoyment only, but they were also playing a considerable part in creating the culture and the vision of a society of the 20th century.
